Adobe is actively working to build apps that run natively on Apple computers using the Apple Silicon M1 chip. Many of our existing apps can run on M1 devices using Apple's Rosetta 2 technology.

Adobe also has a plan for $52.99 per month ($19.99 per month for students and teachers) for access to all of Adobe's Creative Cloud apps. Adobe stopped doing traditional sales of Lightroom in 2017. Acrobat DC is the latest version of Acrobat subscription software. It's the most mobile, productive and collaborative PDF solution Adobe offers, combining Acrobat desktop software and the mobile scan app, the signature app and Acrobat Reader mobile app — enhanced with premium mobile features and premium Document Cloud services.

Lightroom 4.1 runs natively on Apple M1 computers. We are testing and optimizing other apps for these new devices.

When will Adobe release apps that run natively on computers with the M1 chip?

Lightroom is our first app to run natively on Apple M1 computers. We are working to ensure that our other apps run natively on these computers, but don't have release dates for all our apps yet. We plan to release a native version of Photoshop in 2021.

You can install the following apps on computers powered by the Apple M1 chip. They run using Rosetta 2 technology. The apps may initially take longer to open while Rosetta 2 translates them for use in your M1 computer.

You can download these apps on your M1 device directly from creativecloud.adobe.com/apps. The Creative Cloud desktop app automatically installs with your app.

Does Adobe support apps running using Rosetta 2?

We provide support for the apps listed above. We haven't certified other Adobe apps yet and don't support their use on M1 devices.

For best results, run all other Adobe apps only on operating systems and hardware platforms noted in the system requirements.

Currently, you cannot install plug-ins on Apple M1 computers. So, the Marketplace tab is not available in the Creative Cloud desktop app installed on these devices. We are working to ensure plug-in support for Apple M1 computers. In the meantime, we recommend that you install and run your plug-ins on Apple devices with Intel processors.

Currently, a beta version of Photoshop is available with native compatibility. Learn more about Photoshop and Apple M1 chip compatibility.

We will update this document as more beta versions with native compatibility become available.

To install the beta versions, you must first install the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  1. Go to the Creative Cloud website. Your download begins immediately.

  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  3. In the Creative Cloud desktop app, under Apps > Categories, select Beta apps. Then install the beta version of your app.

Will Adobe continue to support Apple devices with Intel processors?

Yes. We have no plans to stop support for Apple devices with Intel processors.

How do I know whether my Apple computer uses an M1 or Intel chip

Select Apple menu () > About This Mac. The name of the chip in your computer is displayed next to Chip.

Activate apps if already activated on two computers

If you've already activated your Creative Cloud individual subscription on two computers, you'll first need to deactivate it on one of the systems.

  1. Sign out to deactivate Creative Cloud on one of the two computers.
  2. Sign in to activate Creative Cloud on the new computer.
